Confidentiality & Service Information

My Health + Mental Wellbeing

Welcome

Thank you for considering counselling with Damian Laidler at My Health + Mental Wellbeing. Please read this information carefully before submitting the contact form. If anything is unclear, contact us before you agree.

How to get started

Counselling is provided primarily by telehealth (Microsoft Teams). Before starting, please review this confidentiality information and our full Confidentiality & Service Agreement (available on request by email).

To proceed via the contact form, select “I agree” to confirm you have read and understood this information. If you cannot access the form, call 1300 047 616 or 0429 510 612, or email damian@myhealthandmentalwellbeing.com.

Confidentiality and privacy

What you share in counselling is confidential, with important limits required by law and professional standards. These include situations where:

• there is a serious risk of harm to you or to another person

• there is a risk to the safety, welfare or wellbeing of a child or young person (mandatory reporting under NSW law)

• disclosure is required by law (for example a court order or subpoena)

• there is a serious illegal activity where there is a legal or professional duty to report

These limits are explained in the first session so you can ask questions and feel informed. Outside these exceptions, information is not shared without your consent.

Your information is stored securely in line with the Australian Privacy Principles and relevant Australian laws. Clinical notes are kept in a secure practice management system and accessed only as needed for your care.

Session recording and clinical notes

Sessions are not recorded unless you give separate, clear consent. Where recording is used, it is only to support accurate clinical summary notes (including with assisted note tools where consented). Recordings are stored securely, accessed only by authorised personnel involved in your care, and retained only for a limited period before deletion, as set out in the full service agreement.

AI receptionist

Initial enquiries and appointment bookings may be assisted by Elena, our AI receptionist. Elena can help with general information and bookings. She does not provide counselling or access clinical notes. Clinical care is always provided by Damian Laidler.

Professional supervision

Damian participates in regular professional supervision to support quality care. Your situation may be discussed in supervision using only the minimum information needed, without unnecessary identifying detail.

Accessibility

Please tell us if you need adjustments (for example alternative formats or extra time to review information) so we can support access where reasonably possible.

Your rights

You may ask questions about counselling at any time, pause or end services, request that a session not be recorded, and expect a respectful, non-judgemental space. Comfort, safety and choice are priorities.

Concerns and complaints

If you have a concern about the service, please contact Damian first on 1300 047 616 or 0429 510 612, or at damian@myhealthandmentalwellbeing.com. If you remain dissatisfied, you may contact the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), which has a formal complaints process for members: theaca.net.au.
